Sarah is a textile graduate from the University of Huddersfield who specialised in embroidery and commercial design. She is a passionate and experimental design who explores abstract approaches to topics.
During her placement year, Sarah volunteered at Oxfam Wastesaver in Batley as a Festival Upcyclist. The role entailed upcycling cashmere for the Royal Windsor Horse Show, reworking old crochet blankets into wearable garments that went onto be sold at festivals such as Glastonbury, Latitude and Womad and creating a Pom Pom Jacket. The Pom Pom jacket was creating using wool from discarded blankets. The jacket was the focal image of the ASOS Marketplace collaboration with Oxfam, in which it received recognition from newspapers such as The Evening Standard, Glamour and Refinery29. Alongside her creative work, Sarah also worked on creating content for Oxfam Festival Shops Instagram. She created individual illustrations for each festival as well as providing photographs and captions. Sarah received credibility of her work with Oxfam by receiving the 2020 Joe Mitty Award for entrepreneurship.
For Sarah’s final major project at university, she focused on creating a bespoke jewellery collection consisting of beads and sequins that would showcase her eye for detail. The Movement Collection consisted of a necklace and earring.
